Meet Cast, the otter with a calculator

Sea otters are famous for floating on their backs and cracking clams on a stone. Cast uses a calculator instead. Out of all the big talk from big-tech CEOs and famous investors, he picks out what can actually be checked in numbers, and writes it up in Korean and English.

What Cast covers

  • Subtitled interview clips: The key segment of an interview, podcast or keynote, subtitled, with the original source credited and commentary added for context.
  • Earnings, filleted: Quarterly results laid out as revenue → gross profit → operating income → net income, with growth and margins computed from the filings.
  • Portfolio company profiles: Companies from the published holdings of investors such as ARK Invest, explained through their business model and numbers.

Editorial standards

  1. Numbers come from company IR materials and filings (10-Q, 10-K, etc.), with sources noted.
  2. If we couldn’t verify something, we say so.
  3. When we get a number wrong, we fix it and mark the correction.
  4. We never tell you to buy or sell anything.
  5. Rights to quoted videos and remarks belong to their owners. We respond promptly to takedown requests.

Who makes this

cast_otter is run by an independent video creator based in Seoul. AI tools help with research, translation, subtitles and editing, but a human checks every number and makes the final call. The tooling that ties it together is Shorts Studio.
